The 2024 Colorado Legislative Session is underway and there have already been quite a few bills introduced. You may be wondering what “is” the legislative session? How does a bill become a law? What can you do to try and influence this process to promote what you see as positive changes? What can you do to ward off potentially negative impacts? We’ve updated a Legislative Checklist for the everyday Colorado citizen to be your roadmap for independent research, community activism, or legislative contact (maybe even all 3 – depending on your level of interest and engagement). Don’t let yourself be taken by surprise or feel that there is “nothing you can do” about proposals coming down the pipeline. There are only a few months during which these types of changes happen, so get informed and get involved!
