Division of Real Estate Publishes Emergency Rules

On May 20, 2015, Governor Hickenlooper signed House Bill 15-1343 into law.  Consequently, the Director of the Division of Real Estate published Emergency Rules, effective May 21, 2015 through September 21, 2015, specifying the application and license requirements for obtaining a Provisional License or an Apprentice License.

Apprentice License
HB 15-1343 allows prospective individuals interested in community association management to apply for an Apprentice License so long as they are working under the control and direct supervision of a licensed Community Association Manager.  Apprentice Licenses are valid for one year and granted for the purpose of learning and performing acts that would otherwise require a Community Association Manger license.  Applicants must:

  • Submit a set of fingerprints for the purpose of a criminal background check
  • Submit an application for  an Apprentice License

Provisional License
Current managers who have not passed the manager licensing exam prior to July 1, 2015, may be eligible to apply for a Provisional License which would be good through December 31, 2015.  Applicants must:

  • Submit a set of fingerprints for the purpose of a criminal background check
  • Hold a CMCA, AMS or PCAM designation or have successfully completed a 24-hour state approved educational program
  • Have sat for and not successfully passed the required portions of the Community Association Manager exam
  • Submit an application for a Provisional License
