Amended Order Allows For Community Pool Openings

As of yesterday, June 4, Colorado Governor Jared Polis has provided guidelines for how community pools may reopen. While pools are permitted to open, to ensure the safety, health, and well-being of Coloradans, there are still COVID19 safety measures which do not permit pools to be used at full capacity:

  • Pool capacity must be limited to 50% or up to 50 people, whichever is fewer.
  • Swimmers not living in the same household should strictly observe social distancing and stay at least six feet away from each other. If the pool has lanes, only one person should be permitted per lane.
  • Restrooms and showers may be open, but lockers should be closed off to reduce people from gathering in confined spaces. Surfaces in the restrooms should be routinely cleaned.
  • All frequently touched surfaces (handrails, chairs, doors, etc…) should be wiped down as frequently as possible. The State of Colorado recommends at least once per hour, or between use by different people.
  • There should be physical cues for guides (lane lines in the pool, or chairs and tables on pool decks), and visual cues (marks on deck, floors, or sidewalks) delineating proper spacing to adhere to social distancing.

Once your community pool has established procedures to ensure the above rules, you may be ready to hop right into a cool, refreshing pool!

Note: the list above are requirements for outdoor pools. Indoor pools have more stringent requirements as can be seen in the link below.
