Jonah Hunt represents nonprofit common interest community associations in a broad range of litigation matters, including those involving construction, derivative claims, easements, elections, quiet title, leasing, and governance issues. He also represents associations in first-party property loss claims, appraisal and litigation, obtaining substantial recoveries for firm clientele. Jonah is frequently retained by insurance carriers to defend the interests of associations and their volunteer board members in governance related litigation.
Jonah also advises associations on transactional matters, including the interpretation and amendment of governing documents, election and voting issues, and preparation of opinion letters, policies and rules and regulations. He gives managers and board members the information and guidance they need to make informed decisions, avoid problems, and minimize risk.
Jonah is a frequent speaker at continuing legal educational programs pertaining to community association law, real estate, and property loss litigation. He presents before the American Bar Association, Colorado Bar Association, CLE in Colorado, various Colorado judicial districts and local bar associations, private legal education providers (NBI, Lorman, etc.), and trade groups (Community Associations Institute – Rocky Mountain and Southern Colorado Chapters, RMAPIA, etc.).
Jonah has been judicially appointed as a special master and privately retained as an expert witness to assist in resolving complex community association disputes. He consults with state legislators on pending bills and has testified before the Colorado General Assembly on proposed real property legislation.
Jonah also represents construction and corporate clients in commercial litigation and arbitration, having handled cases before all state and federal courts. He cleared with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and started his career representing institutional lenders and servicers.
