Obtaining a Provisional CAM License
The deadline to become licensed is quickly approaching. For those managers who have not successfully passed the CAM exam on their first try – all hope is not lost! Here is what you can do to obtain a Provisional License:
- Complete and submit a license application for a Provisional License (applications are available from DORA’s Community Association Manager homepage)
- Submit fingerprints along with your application in order to complete the required background check and avoid further delay
- Show proof that you have failed one or both portions of the exam
If your application for a Provisional License is approved, you will receive a Provisional License. Provisional Licenses will expire on December 31, 2015.
Prior to expiration of a Provisional License, managers may retake any failed portions of the exam as many times as necessary to obtain a passing score. Once you have successfully passed the exam, you will be eligible to receive a CAM license.
What if you pass just one portion of the exam? If you fail either portion of the exam, you will not be eligible to receive a CAM license. However, you can still apply for a Provisional License until you successfully pass any failed portions of the exam. You are not required to re-take the entire exam.
